Sunday School
“Through Christian
Education, we invite children, youth and adults of all ages to be
transformed as they are inspired and challenged to:
-Know and experience God through Jesus Christ
-Claim and live God’s promises and
-Grow and serve as Christian disciples.
We believe that with introspection
and the inspiration of God’s Word, the Holy Spirit will enlighten
us to initiate change in our lives.”

ADULT CLASSES SUNDAYS 9:45-10:45 a.m.
Each Sunday, adult classes offer a time of sharing,
renewal, and growth in faith and knowledge.
Adult Classes offer a place to meet with other people of faith where you
can find the encouragement, care, and support that we all need to meet the
challenges of daily life. Think of the
adult class as a source of respite and renewal for the coming week. John Wesley, founder of Methodism, was an avid reader
who valued the mind as one of God’s most precious gifts to us. He encouraged learning for all - young and
old. What better way to grow in faith
and find a time of renewal than to join an adult class? Calvary’s adult classes are diverse and are
open to adults of all ages. The
Contemporary Issues Class (Baker
Center) studies issues of church and society, explores contemporary social
issues from a Christian perspective.
Past studies have used books by Peter Gomes, Henri Nouwen, and Marcus
Borg. The
Couples Class (Main
Church, Room 24/Parlor, second floor) is not for couples only! This group of adults (married, single, and
widowed) uses a variety of materials that help connect the Biblical witness with
Christian faith and daily life. The
Friendly Circle Class (Room
26, main church, second floor) is an intergenerational group of men and women
who meet for hymn singing, Bible study and prayer. The group uses a variety of materials
throughout the year and enjoys warm and lively discussion. The
Leader’s Bible Class (Education
Building, Room 26, second floor) uses Cokesbury adult Bible Study
Materials. Class members share
leadership. The Leader’s Class is rich
in tradition and proud of serving Calvary Church and the needs of the local
community. The
Parenting Class
(Education Building, G4/5) is for adults who share an interest in Christian
parenting and how to best raise and support children and youth today while
learning about faith and other issues.
The class members take turns leading study and discussion. Various social functions throughought the year foster the warm spirit of fellowship of this class. The New Beginnings Class (Memorial
room, main church building) This class developed out of a new members
class and began studying Christian classics that challenge the way
Chrsitians releate to the world around them. These young adults
dig deeper into God's word so they can better minister in Christ's name. The Fellowship Group (Library, main church building) This class is an informal gathering of adults concerned about issues of mutual interest. It does not follow a set curriculum, rather it focuses on day to day living as a Chrsitian. Of special interest is parenting young children and family life issues. Group members are encouraged to bring topic ideas to class each week. The Special Needs Class (room 2, main church building) This class provides education of Christian topics for the mentally challenged adult. |
