Weddings at Calvary
Calvary’s historic sanctuary in downtown Frederick offers a beautiful and much loved setting for weddings, and we would be honored to be part of your day. Calvary is a Reconciling Congregation, and we celebrate and bless all couples who come to be married here. We welcome both members and non-members as our calendar allows, and members are able to schedule at reduced rates.
All weddings at Calvary are services of Christian worship, held in keeping with the United Methodist Book of Worship. If you are not yet part of Calvary, we warmly invite you to join us for worship on a Sunday morning before you reach out, so you can get a feel for our space and the spirit of worship here.
Weddings away from Calvary
Dr. Hutton is glad to officiate weddings beyond our sanctuary, whether at a favorite venue, a family home, or another place that holds meaning for you. Off-site weddings follow the same preparation process, with a few added costs for travel, such as mileage and, when the distance calls for it, an overnight stay. A few things to keep in mind
- Your ceremony will be presided over by a pastor of Calvary UMC or their designee. We are glad to work with you to involve clergy you love, though only the assigned Calvary pastor can officially invite other clergy to take part.
- Every couple completes premarital preparation with Rev. Dr. Beth Hutton, a certified Prepare/Enrich facilitator. This begins with an introduction to Calvary and the Prepare/Enrich inventory, followed by 2 to 3 sessions, which can be virtual, to review your results and plan your ceremony.
- Weddings are scheduled on Saturdays between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., subject to availability, and must be confirmed at least six months in advance.
- No weddings are held from Thanksgiving through January 1 or during Holy Week. Other dates may be unavailable due to scheduled church events.
