During Advent this year, we will be exploring the season using the series "Outside the Box: The Gift that Can't Be Contained."

BLUE CHRISTMAS SERVICE

Thursday, December 22, 2011

6:30 p.m.

For many of us, Christmas is a bittersweet time of year. It is a time for remembering both persons and events that have been a part of our lives in the past, but that are now changed or gone. This is the time of year with the longest nights, so around this time we offer a quiet, meditative worship service that makes time for remembering, sharing our hurting places with God, and preparing our hearts for the coming of Christ. Join us on Thursday, December 22 at 6:30 pm, for a time of special music, scripture, stories, silent reflection, healing prayer and communion. Please come.

CHRISTMAS EVE

Saturday, December 24, 2011

5:00 p.m.

Children's Service

A brief, active service tailored for families with young children. The core of the service is a message just for our youngest children! Classic carols complete this special service.

Rev. Sarah Schlieckert preaching and Children's Choirs (Genesis and Sonshine) singing

7:00 p.m.

Family Service

A classic service of carols, Holy Communion and a Christmas message. This service combines both the traditions of our 9 & 11 p.m. services with a more active liturgy and message.

Rev. Sarah Schlieckert preaching and Youth Choir (Voices of Praise) singing

9:00 & 11:00 p.m.

Candlelight Communion Service

A favorite service of many, Calvary’s 9 & 11 p.m. Christmas Eve Candlelight services are one of the most popular services all year in Frederick. Join us as we welcome the Christ-child through carols, Holy Communion, a powerful Christmas message and the beauty of a sanctuary illuminated by candlelight.

Rev. Ken Dunnington preaching and Adult Choirs (Cathedral and Gospel) singing

CHRISTMAS DAY

Sunday, December 25, 2011

10:00 a.m.

Combined Worship Service

Join us for this special come-as-you-are service on Christmas Day, which falls on a Sunday this year. This service replaces our regular Sunday worship schedule and Calvary will also welcome our sisters and brothers from Centennial Memorial UMC in worship on Christmas Day. We will have a special blessing of the gifts during the worship service, so old and young alike are invited to bring a gift to have it blessed.

Rev. Sarah Schlieckert preaching.

We will also be joined in worship by the St. Petersburg (Russia) Men's Ensemble.

DOWNTOWN FREDERICK TOUR OF HOUSES OF WORSHIP
